Using AI Product Video in Sales Decks and Pitch Meetings
How video behaves in a live meeting rather than online, what length works when a person is presenting, and the practical failures to plan around.
Video in a live meeting behaves differently from video online, and content produced for one context frequently fails in the other. The audience is captive but socially attentive, the presenter is in the room and slightly displaced while it plays, and the technical setup is whatever the meeting room provides. These conditions should shape the content rather than being discovered during the pitch.
The first difference is length tolerance, which is lower than people assume. A room will watch sixty to ninety seconds comfortably. Beyond two minutes the presenter becomes a spectator in their own meeting and the audience begins checking devices. The instinct to use the long brand film because it exists is what produces the familiar moment where someone reaches for the remote.
The second is that the video must earn its place against the presenter simply talking. If the presenter can explain the point in thirty seconds, the film should not spend ninety doing it. Video earns its place when it shows something that cannot be described: the product working, the scale of a facility, the mechanism inside a housing, a customer speaking. Poushneh (2021) found that perceived proximity to a virtual product influenced purchase intention, and creating that proximity in a room where the product is absent is exactly the job.
The third is that the film should end in a way that returns the room to the presenter. A film that fades to a logo and stops leaves a silence in which everyone waits. A film that resolves on an image the presenter can speak over, or that ends on a question, hands the meeting back cleanly. This is a small edit decision with a disproportionate effect on how the meeting flows.
Sound is the practical failure that occurs most often. Meeting room audio is frequently poor, laptop speakers are worse, and a film whose message lives in the narration will be partly unintelligible. Building a version that works with on screen text carrying the key points, and treating the audio as an enhancement, makes the film robust to whatever the room provides.
The technical preparation should assume the worst. A local copy rather than a stream, because the meeting room network will fail at the least convenient moment. A format that plays without a specific application. A version at a modest resolution as well as the master, because some meeting room systems will struggle. And a static slide with the key frame, in case video is impossible, which happens more often than anyone expects.
Silent versions are worth producing specifically for this context. A short loop of the product working, running behind the presenter while they speak, communicates continuously without competing for the audio channel. This is closer to how event screens work than to how a film works, and it is frequently more useful in a pitch than the film itself.
For technical evaluations the film should be leave behind material rather than presentation material. Sarasvuo et al. (2023) found that buyer perceptions of fit and attractiveness shape how corporate offerings are evaluated in B2B services, and much of that evaluation happens after the meeting, among people who were not present. A short, self contained, forwardable piece is doing work in rooms the presenter will never enter, which is often worth more than what plays in the meeting.
Accuracy carries the same weight here as anywhere and is more immediately testable, because the audience may be evaluating the product in detail afterwards. Kirk and Givi (2025) found that perceptions of authenticity shape consumer responses to AI generated marketing communications, and a generated product depiction that differs from what the buyer later inspects is a credibility problem introduced at the moment credibility matters most.
The practical asset set for sales use is three items rather than one film: a sixty second version for the meeting, a silent loop for running behind a presentation, and a short forwardable piece for the people who were not in the room. All three come from the same production, cost very little more than the first alone, and cover the three situations that actually occur.
